The Gospels are as bursting with life as ever,
but if they are to have any chance
of leading us joyfully to the altar of God,
the Church must listen humbly
to the voice of Christ
speaking from the hearts
of those it is called to serve
This blog tries to help that process.

Fr Val,
Many thanks for your offerings on this blog. They are much appreciated and I really admire your unstinting efforts to build up the the kingdom through this medium.
I think I fall into both categories of people you write this blog for! I need disturbing of my comfort and comfort for that which disturbs me!
Keep up the good work. I and I am sure many others look forward to journeying with you this Lent.
Pax
I love the blog, Father Val. I may not post my comments very often, but you know I read them. I find them very helpful.

Hello Fr Val
Thanks for your blog - I'd especially been seeking folks to talk to about my concern (and anger) about the new mass translation. I see you're not well, but I hope all is OK at the moment and want to send you my good wishes and prayers. God bless you
Apart from being under-appreciated and insufficiently loved (and never winning the Lottery,) for a Hypocondriac I'm doing fine.
As for the new translation and a million other things, don't get mad, stay sane.
The church is of divine origin but is being run (as always) by power-hungry, sinful, institution-mad males, so don't expect too much.
It seems a shame that the healthy fresh air of Vatican 2 is more than some could take. Yet be sure of this, Christ remains with his Church. All sides have a lot to learn. Death and Resurrection is still, as always, the heart of the matter.
